Watertown Man Dies in Medical Emergency Incident at Meeker County Lake

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into a medical incident that resulted in the death of a Watertown man at a boat landing on Lake Washington south of Dassel.

Officials say deputies were called to the boat access around 1:20 PM on Monday, where a man and his wife had been working on bringing their pontoon to the boat landing.

Authorities say 56-year-old Edward Chabot had been standing in the water while working on the pontoon when he went under the water. Chabot was brought to the shore where life-saving measures were performed. He was taken by ambulance to the Hutchinson Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The Meeker County Community Paramedic, the Minnesota DNR, Dassel Rescue and Allina Ambulance all assisted the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
