Saturday, Feb. 10th

Girls Hockey:

Section 5AA Quarterfinals: #5 North Wright County  4, #4 Roseville 3. Four different River Hawks scored and NWC held on after taking a 4-1 lead to advance to the section finals. Adrienne Hanson netted the game winning goal for the River Hawks.

Section 5A Semifinals: #1 Orono 6, #4 Delano 1. Kayla Simonson stopped 55 shots for the Tigers in the loss.

Section 2A Semifinals: Willmar 3, Litchfield DC 1. Avery Quinn had a a goal and an assist in the Cards win.

Boys Hockey:

Buffalo 3, Osseo 2. Eli Tiernan scored two goals to lead the Bison to a thrilling win over the Orioles on Saturday. The Orioles outshot the Bison 40-39, with Max Varner stopping 38 shots.

Boys Basketball:

Rockford 75, Hibbing 58. The Rockets rallied from five down to run past Hibbing on Saturday. Jacob Eisentrager scored 18 points in the Rockford win.

Girls Wrestling Individual Sections:

These are the athletes headed to state from the Wright County area in Girls Wrestling.

STMA: Ava Schultz, Claire Kvant, Maggie Steele, Sadie Strait, Lily Hamilton.

Congrats to the STMA Knights and the five wrestlers, above, who qualified for Girls State in Wrestling.

Monticello: Jasmine Downer, and Roseangel Vennett. Vennett won the Section 6,8 Championship at 118 pounds.

Boys Wrestling:

Annandale/ML finished the regular season with a 26-4 record by going 2-0 at their tri meet on Saturday. The Lightning defeated #10 Little Falls and St. Francis.

Monday, Feb. 12th

Boys Basketball:

Minnetonka 68, Buffalo 60. The Skippers were clutch down the stretch and pulled away late to pick up the road victory. Greysen Uelmen scored 28 for the Skippers, while Grady Guida lead the Bison with 13 points.

Eden Prairie 83, STMA 81. Hudson Hochstedler lead four Knights in double figures with 20 points, but the Eagles pulled out the close victory.

Girls Basketball:

Minnetonka 75, Buffalo 39. Brianna Eggers had 8 points for the Bison.

STMA 71, Eden Prairie 63. Ja’Kahla Craft had a monster night with 41 points in the Knights win.

Lester Prairie 80, Howard Lake WW 24.

Tuesday, Feb. 13th

Girls Hockey:

Section 5AA Semifinals: #1 Centennial 5, #5 North Wright County 2. Alexa Larson put NWC up early 1-0, and Dani Weiland tied it at two in the second period, but Centennial scored three goals in the third period to advance to the Section finals.

Boys Hockey:

Monticello 4, Minneapolis 3. Roman Thompson scored back to back goals to tie the game for Monti sending it too overtime. In overtime, Carter Lemke scored just 1:31 in the extra session to give the Moose the victory.

Glencoe Silver Lake 69, Rockford 61. Mae Weiss scored 19 in the loss for the Rockets.

Annandale 77, Litchfield 30.

Delano 78, Chisago Lakes 42. Taylor Tool lead four players in double figures for the Tigers with 14.

New London Spicer 76, Howard Lake WW 21.

Watertown Mayer 70, Dassel-Cokato 34.

Monticello 67, Big Lake 44. Samantha Voll netted 19 points in the Magic win.

Boys Basketball:

Big Lake 72, Monticello 67.

New London Spicer 72, Howard Lake WW 56.

Maple Lake 68, Northern Lakes 56. Pablo Manzanedo scored 17 as the Lakers picked up the home win.

Annandale 70, Litchfield 48.

Delano 84, Mound 60. JJ Longstreet had a break out game with 20 in the Tigers win.

Watertown Mayer 82, Dassel-Cokato 61. Caleb Thinesen scored 21 points in the Chargers loss.

Thursday, Feb. 15th.

Gymnastics.

Section 5AA: The STMA Knights won the section and advanced to state with a score of 145.4. Rogers finished second with a score of 138.6, while Buffalo was third with 132.2. Jackie Bergeron from STMA won the all around, while Paige Herbst from STMA finished second. Advancing to state from Buffalo are Kaylee Dehmer who scored an 8.25 on the bars, and Lydia Field, who scored an 8.8 on the floor.

Monticello 77, Willmar 54. Carson Deibele(17 points), and Braydon Dollard(16 points), lead the Magic over the Cards on Thursday night.

STMA 60, Edina 59. The Knights upset #10AAAA Edina on Thursday night behind 21 points from Hudson Hochstedler.

Hudson Hochstedler, above on defense, lead the Knights to an upset win over Edina on Thursday night.

Annandale 83, Glencoe SL 69. 6 players scored in double figures, lead by Gavin Wang’s 22 points as the #7AA Cards rolled at home.

Litchfield 73, Howard Lake WW 64.

Girls Basketball.

Glencoe SL 63, Annandale 55. Emerson Helget netted 16 points, and 7th grader Aly Purcell scored 14 in the Cards loss.

Monticello 62, Willmar 47. Samantha Voll scored 19 in the Magic win.

Samantha Voll, above, again lead the Magic in scoring Thursday night. She has had a great year for the Magic at point guard.

St. Cloud Cathedral 3, Monticello 0. The Crusaders won a big section seeding game by shutting out the Moose on Thursday night.

Boys Wrestling.

Section 6AA: Howard Lake WW upset #2 Annandale/Maple Lake by criterioum after a 29-29 tie, because the Lakers won more matches. The 6th seeded Lakers, then lost to #1 seed Becker in the Section Finals, 43-20.

Boys Basketball.

Monticello 86, St. Francis 74.

Rockford 68, Watertown-Mayer 61. The Rockets outscored the Royals 11-4 in overtime to pick up the road win.

Washburn 69, Buffalo 45. Kyle Jorgenson lead the Millers with 15 as they rolled past the Bison at home.

Delano 2, Northfield 1. Brody Geislinger netted the game winner at 5:07 into overtime to lift the Tigers over Northfield on Saturday.

Eden Prairie 7, Buffalo 1.
