Saturday, Feb 1st.

Girls Basketball.

Providence 101, STMA 68. Maddyn Greenway (Kentucky commit) scored 38 points and added eight assist and five rebounds as she went over 4,000 points for her career in the Lions rout. Cail Jahnke scored 28 for the Knights.

Chanhassen 71, Delano 66. Four players scored in double figures for Delano, led by Abbie Pietila, but it wasn’t enough for the Tigers on Saturday.

Boys Basketball.

STMA 71, Chaska 62. Jeremiah Johnson scored 25 as the Knights overcame a six-point halftime deficit to defeat the Hawks on Saturday.

Delano 71, Owatonna 45. Four players scored in double figures, led by Jake Schultz with 13 in the Tigers win. Schultz went over 1,000 total points for a career in the game as well.

Hopkins 81, Buffalo 58. Anthony Smith was too much for the Bison, scoring thirty in the Royals road win.

Hibbing 82, Rockford 70.

Girls Hockey.

Delano 5, Litchfield DC 0. Sydney Connors scored the game winning goal in the first, and Sydney Ross stopped all twenty shots she saw in goal for the Tigers.

Edina 4, Buffalo 0. The #2AA Hornets outshot the Bison 54-5, but Avan Jovan kept Buffalo in it, by stopping 50 of 54 shots.

Boys Hockey.

Princeton 9, Litchfield DC 3. Lane Olson scored five goals for the Tigers in the win.

Minnetonka 3, Buffalo 0.

Wayzata 4, STMA 1.

What an incredible weekend for the Annandale cheerleaders! Back-to-back MCCA State Champions! Other awards included: Lily Onstad: All-State Comp Team and Team Standout Award Region Academic Honor with a team combined GPA of 3.649 Kirstin Petty: Coach of the Year Award.

Monticello advanced to state in dance, by finishing first in jazz and third in high kick at sections in Rocori.

Annandale 67, Foley 57. The Cards got 23 points from Ben Walter in their nonconference win at home against the Falcons on Monday night.

Girls Basketball.

Rockford 66, Litchfield 63. Sienna Thomas netted 21 in the Rockets win over Litch on Monday night.

Girls Hockey.

Delano 5, Hutch 2. McKenzie Perry had a hat trick in Delano’s win over Hutch on Monday.

Tuesday, Feb. 4th.

Section 8AA Quarterfinals.

#3 Bemidji 4, Buffalo 1. Savannah Sabraski scored the lone Bison goal as the Lumberjacks outshot the Bison 30-15, eliminating Buffalo from the playoffs.

Girls Basketball.

Buffalo 72, Fridley 60. Brianna Eggers scored 26 points in the Bison win.

Delano 71, Mound 26. Cassie Wegman and Caitlin Champeau scored 14 points each for Delano.

Monticello 73, Princeton 40.

Minnetonka 75, STMA 69.

Boys Basketball.

Annandale 55, Norwood YA 42. Gabe Westman and Ben Walter combined for thirty points, while Owen Peterson added 10 points including two clutch threes’ late to seal the victory for the Cards on the road.

Princeton 85, Monticello 67. Despite 23 points from Rhys Nebben and 22 from Jackson Soroko, the Tigers took this Mississippi 8 matchup on Tuesday night.

Wayzata 97, Buffalo 71. Nolan Anderson went over 1,000 for his career for the Trojans, scoring 22 in the Wayzata win. Freshman, Thomas Jordan led the Bison with 16.

Dassel-Cokato 85, New London Spicer 75.

Minnetonka 65, STMA 61. The Knights fought back from seventeen down to make it a tight game late, but the Skippers held on to the win despite Jeremiah Johnson scoring 25 for STMA.

Boys Swim and Dive.

Buffalo 101, Dassel-Cokato 76. The Bison set two new pool records, and one team record on Tuesday night in their win over DC. James Lemus in the 50 free: 21.59 (pool) Mason Evenson 6-dives: 323.25 (pool), and Rylan Close 100 backstroke: 54.43 (school).

Wed., Feb. 5th.

Girls Hockey.

Section 5A Quarterfinals.

#4 Delano 8, #5 Pine City 5. After a wild first period that ended with the scored tied at 4, the Tigers pulled away in the third period with three goals. Kaleigh Olson had a hat trick and an assist, while McKenzie Perry scored two and had two assists in the Tigers win.

Delano, above, skating in orange, advanced to the Section semifinals with a win over Pine City on Wed.

Thursday, Feb. 6th.

Girls Hockey.

Class A, Section 2 Quarterfinals.

#5 Hutch 2, #4 Litchfield DC 1. Lydia Schultz tied the game in the second period for LDC, but Ellie Schweim won it at the 2:38 mark of overtime as the Tigers ended the Dragons season on Thursday night. LDC outshot the Tigers badly, but Kaiden Fitterer stopped 37 of 38 shots for Hutch in the upset.

Boys Hockey.

Delano 6, Litchfield DC 5. The Dragons got outshot 41-19 by Delano on Thursday night, but it didn’t seem to matter when Isaac Salmen tied the game for the Dragons with 8:44 to go in the game on Thursday. Moments later though Aaron Halonen scored the game winner for the Tigers as they survived LDC at home. Halonen netted a hat trick and added an assist in the Delano win.

Monticello 5, Cambridge-I 1. Ashton Stoll scored two goals and added an assist in the Moose win.

Edina 4, STMA 3. The #5AA Hornets survived a scare from STMA on Thursday night but pulled out the win on the road.

Wayzata 8, Buffalo 0. McCoy Kurtz scored three goals as the Trojans breezed past the Bison.

STMA 68, Buffalo 49. 7’0 Sophomore Center Jack Thelen (25 points) was too much inside as the Knights pulled away in the second half to pick up the road win against Buffalo. Jordy Sorenson led the Bison with 14 points.

Monticello 80, Rocori 57. Jackson Soroko scored 28 points in the Magic win.

Norwood Young America 72, Dassel-Cokato 55.

Friday, Feb. 7th.

Girls Basketball.

Monticello 69, Totino-Grace 56. The Magic #2AAA improved to 21-0 with a road win at Totino. In the game Jr. Samantha Voll became the second leading scorer in program history, passing Anna Olson, who is a Senior, playing at Vermont.

Annandale 61, Rockford 55. Julia Bishop hit six threes and scored 23 points as the Cards held off the Rockets on Friday night. Sienna Thomas kept the Rockets in the game all night with 17 points.

STMA 70, Buffalo 50. Brianna Eggers scored 21 for the Bison, but Cail Jahnke (25 points.), and Abby Hoselton (17) where two much for the Bison on Friday night.

Howard Lake WW 70, Litchfield 49.

Dassel-Cokato 71, Norwood YA 55.

Boys Basketball.

Annandale 79, Rockford 69. Gabe Westman had a season high 28 points, slashing to the basket over and over again in the Cards home win. Grant Kloss kept the Rockets in the game with 29 points, including 22 in the second half.

Delano 53, Minneapolis Washburn 52.

Litchfield 59, Howard Lake WW 58.

Gymnastics.

Buffalo 136.15, Eden Prairie 126.17. The Bison closed out their home season with their best performance of the year with a win over the Eagles.

The Bison Seniors, above, went out on a high note with their best performance of the year on Friday night.

Wrestling.

The Monticello Magic took home 7th place in their invite, led by Peyton Ruzicka and Mike Friedrichs who won championships at their weight class.
