Russell Ylitalo, Jr, Buffalo, Boys Golf: Ylitalo shot a 155 at the state meet last year, finishing 36th overall, and is back looking for a higher finish this year at state. Russell is just one of a long list of Ylitalo’s to excel at Buffalo in golf.

Abigail Labrador, Fr, STMA, Girls Golf: The next big thing in girls’ golf in the state? Yep! Labrador as an 8th grader finished 9th at state with a 151, and she is just getting started as she is only a freshman.

Abigail Labrador, above, is one of the top up and coming golfers in the State of Minnesota.

Aiyden Zinnel, Jr, Monticello, Boys Lacrosse: Zinnel scored 31 goals and added 10 assists as an attacker for the Magic last season, helping the Magic to a 10-5 record.

The Monticello Magic, above, went 10-5 last season, and Aiyden Zinnel lead the way with 31 goals.

Colton McClellan, STMA, Boys Lacrosse: Colton is the backbone of the Knights Boys Lacrosse team, going 10-4 last season while stopping 50% of the shots he faced.

Owen Lange, Sr, Buffalo, Boys Lacrosse: Owen had a breakout year for the Bison last spring with 24 goals and 14 assists. The Bison were only 6-9 last season but have plenty of experience coming back led by Lange.

Hattie Toussaint, Buffalo, Girls Lacrosse: Hattie is part of a dynamic one two punch for the Bison scoring 43 goals and collecting 58 points for the Bison last spring, and this year Buffalo should again contend for state.

Haddie Toussaint, lead the Bison with 43 goals last season.

Bailey Mischke, Sr, Buffalo Girls Lacrosse: Bailey is the second part of the dynamic duo from Buffalo, scoring 31 goals and adding 16 assist last Spring. With Toussaint, Mischke and outstanding depth it should be another strong season for the Bison.

Piper Peterson, STMA, Girls Lacrosse: The Knights went 2-12 last spring, but forget about that! No one, and I mean no one was as dominant as Peterson as she scored an astounding 51 goals and added six assist last season and is only getting better.

Piper Peterson, above, is one of the top Girls Lacrosse players in the state.

Lance Klersy, Sr., Monticello, Clay Trap Shooting. Klersy was literally perfect at the state meet last spring, shooting a perfect score of 100, and is back to defend his championship this spring for the Magic.

Lance Klersy, above, is back to defend his Clay Target state championship this season for Monti.

Aubrey Quern, Dassel-Cokato, Softball. Aubrey went 14-3 in the circle last spring and led the Chargers to a surprise trip to state. This year with her back in the circle, it would not be a surprise to see DC back in state as they are ranked #10 in class AA to start the season.

Lily Bury, Rockford, Softball. The Rockets have been close to state the last few years, but have come up short, but this year with Bury in the circle and at the plate the Rockets are ranked #10 in the state in AA.

Josie Ordoff, Sr, Monticello Softball: Ordoff does it both in the circle and at the plate. Last spring Ordoff hit .425 with five extra base hits and eleven RBI’s and struck out 68 batters with a 3.30 era in the circle.

Kendra Behrens, Sr, STMA Softball: Behrens like Ordoff does it both at the plate and in the circle and helped lead the Knights to state last season hitting .375 with 5 home runs and 29 RBI’s while going 15-5 in the circle with 118 strikeouts in 118 innings.

Kendra Behrens, above, has helped lead STMA to back-to-back state tournament appearances.

Cam Dubel, Sr, STMA Softball: Cam and Behrens make a great battery for the Knights as Dubel has caught Behrens for three years. At the plate Cam is no slouch either, hitting .363 with 6 extra base hits and 16 RBI’s last spring.

Kailyn Wittwer, Delano, Softball: The Tigers have been a force in softball for years, and return an experienced and deep team, led by Wittwer, who hit over .400 last season and also plays excellent defense. Expect the Tigers to be in the mix for state again this year as they are ranked #5 in AA to start the season.

Will Haas, Sr, Rockford, Baseball: Let’s see, last season Haas went 10-1 with a 0.92 era on the mound, hit .397 at the plate, led the Rockets to the state championship in AA, oh and is headed to SEC power Tennessee to play baseball after this spring. Yeah, he is pretty good!

Will Haas, above, will head to Tennesse to pitch for the Vols after his senior season at Rockford.

Carson Deibele, Monticello, Baseball: Deibele as a Freshman last fall stepped up late in the season going 4-4, with a 2.42 ERA as he helped lead the Magic to the Section finals before losing to Totino-Grace.

Dolan Brisk, Buffalo, Baseball: Brisk is only a sophomore, but hit .333 last spring for Buffalo and is part of very strong sophomore class that should help the Bison rally from a 5-18 season last spring. Already this Spring the Bison knocked off #10AAA Waconia, 4-3.

Dolan Brisk, above, is one of the top Sophomores in the state in baseball.

Brandon Cooper, Annandale, Baseball: Like Buffalo, the Cards had a rough season last year, a lot of it due to youth, but Cooper wasn’t a part of it. Cooper got hurt during the football season but should help lead a now experienced Cards team with his bat and defense.
