As AI continues to evolve, there are plenty of questions about how it can be used in education.
U of M Professor George Veletsianos says one positive is that the technology allows educators and students at all levels to do things more efficiently…
“Creating examples for students that relate to their interests, asking students to use them to field questions if they have them changing their reading level of materials.”
While the possibilities of AI in education are exciting, Professor Veletsianos says there are some things to be cautious of…
“Generative AI are very good at making people believe that they know what they’re talking about. So if you don’t have that entire knowledge and her expertise on the topic, it’s very easy to be both lead astray and to not develop your knowledge understanding of the topic.”
The professor suggests that AI should be viewed less as black or white, and more in- between…
“My suggestion is to view tools like this one as part of our toolkit, something that we might have access to to improve things that we are seeing as problematic in our classrooms, in our education systems.”
One thing most experts agree on is that like it or not, AI is likely here to stay.
