The recent stretch of unusually cool temperatures in our area has prompted many people to wonder if fall colors will be earlier than usual this year.
The Minnesota DNR has launched its fall color finder map as a resource for those interested in tracking the annual fall display.
DNR spokeswoman Sara Berhow says the map is updated every Thursday afternoon and can be found on their website…
“One of the cool aspects of the fall color finder is the public can participate. We have a spot there where people can share their photos from their fall color adventures out on state lands.”
She says another available feature is the weekly newsletter that can come to you via email or text…
“Those newsletters feature things like suggested itineraries to go see the best fall colors that week, or some hidden gems within the state park system. We also have some information about the plants and animals that folks might see if they are out visiting the places that we’re showcasing.”
Information on the fall color map finder and the weekly newsletter is available at; www.dnr.state.mn.us.
Fall colors in Minnesota typically peak in mid-to-late-September through mid-October, starting in the northernmost part of the state and working southward.
