Wright County HS Scores for the Week of Friday, Sept. 5th-Friday, Sept. 12th.

Friday, September 5th.

Football.

Buffalo 24, Robbinsdale Cooper 6. Matthew Jordan caught a short TD pass from Grant Benson to end a fourteen play, seventy-five-yard drive to clinch the win over Cooper in the fourth quarter. Benson threw for a TD and ran for a TD for Buffalo, while Trent Stromme also recovered a fumble in the end zone off a Lucas Phillips sack to give the Bison a 10-0 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Howard Lake WW 28, Dassel-Cokato 14. Timmy Webber scored the opening touchdown and the Lakers never looked back in their upset win at DC on Friday night.

Annandale 46, Glencoe Silver Lake 0. Gabe Westman caught two more TD’s giving him six on the year in just two games so far as the Cards rolled again. The Cards starters have only played four total quarters this season and have outscored their opponents 88-0 with their starters in the game.

Watertown Mayer 15, Rockford 14. In a game featuring two teams that are trying to find their footing this season, the Royals escaped Rockford with a tight one-point win.

Minnetonka 40, STMA 7. Caleb Francois rushed for four TDs in the Skippers rout. Ty Haring scored the lone Knights TD with a 7-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

Ashby 16, Maple Lake 14. The Lakers who ended their thirty-six game losing streak last week, just missed out on starting 2-0 this season with a close loss to Ashby.

Delano 17, Providence 14. The Tigers once again played stout defense and did just enough on offense to knock of the Lions on the road. QB Grant Bruett ran for 172 yards and added a rushing TD and a passing touchdown in the Tigers Road win. Andrew Bruett caught a 75-yard TD and also added an interception on defense for Delano.

Alexandria 7, Monticello 0. This was one of the top matchups in the Metro area in 5A for the week, and as far being close it lived up to it. As far as being entertaining, not so much as the Cards earned a hard-fought win by scoring the only TD of the game. Garrett Bauer was the star on defense for the Magic with 12 tackles.

Saturday, September 6th.

Volleyball.

Marshall Invite.

Delano finished 5th at the Marshall invite. The Tigers came in ranked #9 in the state, and they proved there ranking with a great showing at the Marshall invite. The Tigers opened by losing a close one to #2 Lakeville North, 22-25, and 24-26. Delano bounced back with a win over #8 Maple Grove, 18-25, 25-22, and 15-12. Delano closed out the tournament with a sweep over Wayzata, 21-25, 25-11, 15-9.

STMA went 1-2 at the invite, defeating Alexandria, 2-0, while losing to Minneota, 2-1, and Mayer Lutheran, 2-1.

Sauk Rapids Invite.

Monticello after starting the season 0-3 against elite competition found their footing at the SRR invite, going a perfect 4-0 and winning the tournament. The Magic picked up close wins over Pequot Lakes, 2-1, Albany, 2-1, and Sauk Rapids Rice 2-1, before sweeping Annandale, 2-0. Alayna Opatz had 43 kills in the tourney, while Brooklyn Sigler added 50 assists for the Magic.

Annandale went 2-2 at the invite, defeating Royalton and Holdingford, 2-1, while losing to Monticello and Sauk Centre dropping both matches, 2-0.

White Hawk Invite.

Buffalo went 2-2, with wins over Kennedy and Norwood Young America, while losing to Glencoe SL and St. Peter.

Rockford went 1-3, picking up a win over Kennedy, 25-19, and 25-21, while losing to St. Peter, Orono, and Maranatha.

Boys Soccer.

Delano 1, Alexandria 1. Lincoln Hanson scored the lone Tigers goal in their tie with the Cards.

Rain pours down, as Delano in black and Alex played to a 1-1 tie on Saturday.

STMA 2, Moorhead 0. Andrew Loecken and William Hauxwell scored the Knights goals.

Buffalo 3, Chaska 1. Cayce Peterson had a part in all three goals, scoring two and assisting on another as the Bison came away with a win against the Hawks. Gerhard Ungaro was huge in the nets for Buffalo, stopping ten shots.

Girls Soccer.

Big Lake 4, Rockford 0.

STMA 1, Brainerd 0.

Buffalo 15, Zimmerman 0.

Monday, September 8th.

Boys Soccer.

Hutch 5, Rockford 3. The Tigers rallied from a 3-2 halftime deficit by outscoring the Rockets 3-0 in the second half. Grayden MacMullan scored two goals and added an assist for Hutch.

Monticello 1, Zimmerman 0.

Girls Soccer.

Southwest Christian 4, Delano 0.

Monticello 10, Zimmerman 1.

Volleyball.

Mound 3, Rockford 1. Mound won in four, 25-20, 19-25, 25-17 and 25-23.

Tuesday, September 9th.

Boys Soccer.

Buffalo 3, STMA 2. Gavin Johnson tied the game for Buffalo with four minutes left and Brandon Rodenwald tied it for the Bison with two minutes left as Buffalo took home the first ever County Road 35 Trophy with a stunning comeback on Tuesday night on the road.

The Buffalo Bison, above in white, came back to defeat STMA on Tuesday night.

Southwest Christian 1, Delano 0.

Rockford 2, Camden 2. The Rockets picked up their first points of the season after tying Camden.

Girls Soccer.

STMA 1, Buffalo 0. Emma Kvant scored just four minutes into the game on a 35-foot blast from the right side, bending it in just inside the right crossbar as the Knights held off the Bison on Tuesday night at STMA.

Emma Kvant, above in blue, scored the lone goal in the Knights win over Buffalo.

Delano 2, Spectrum 1. The Tigers scored the only goal of the second half, and it held up in the Delano win.

Monticello 10, Zimmerman 1.

Coon Rapids 4, Rockford 0.

Volleyball.

Monticello 3, North Branch 1. Alayna Opatz had seventeen kills, while Brooklyn Sigler and Adison Konz combined for thirty-six assists for the Magic.

Howard Lake WW 3, Dassel-Cokato 0. The Lakers swept the Chargers, but it wasn’t easy, 25-21, 25-22, and 25-20.

Delano 3, Big Lake 0. The Tigers dominated the Hornets, outscoring them 75-34.

Annandale 3, Paynesville 0. The Cards outscored Paynesville, 75-49 on the night.

Rockford 3, Maranatha 2. The Rockets won the final set 15-12, to take home the match over the Mustangs.

Sebeka 3, Maple Lake 1.

STMA 3, Buffalo 1. The Knights defeated Buffalo Tuesday night, 26-24, 25-19, 19-25 and 25-18.

Wednesday, September 10th.

Boys Soccer.

Monticello 2, Princeton 0. Caleb Vagle and Matteus Sundine scored the Magic goals.

Thursday, September 11th.

Volleyball.

Wayzata 3, STMA 1. After the Knights rallied in the third set to keep the game alive, the Trojans dominated the fourth set and won on the road Thursday night. Ellie Osowski led the Trojans with 21 kills, while Kayla Nawrocki added 12 as Wayzata dominated up front. Abby Conklin had nine kills for the Knights.

Eden Prairie 3, Buffalo 0. The Eagles handled the Bison Thursday night, 25-17, 25-16, 25-15.

Watertown Mayer 3, Dassel-Cokato 0. The Royals won all three, but it was much closer than the score would indicate, 25-18, 25-16, and 27-25.

Monticello 3, Cambridge-Isanti 0. The Magic dominated the Bluejackets by a total score 75-25.

Delano 3, Big Lake 0. The Tigers made short work of the Hornets by a combined score of 75-41.

Annandale 3, Litchfield 0. The Cards won on the road by dominating Litch, 75-41.

Norwood Young America 3, Rockford 0.

Paynesville 3, Maple Lake 0.

The Buffalo girls finished fourth out of nine teams at the event, while the Delano girls finished 5th. On the boys’ side, Delano was third.
