Work crews in Buffalo have been taking advantage of some great weather in recent days to get a jump start on a major overhaul of the downtown roads and infrastructure.
The city’s Northeast Area Reconstruction project is fully underway. Buffalo Mayor Steve Downer explains the scope of the project…
“The water-sewer lines in the area are upwards of 90 years old, so it’s time to replace those. And with the project coming, the streets and sidewalks have not been invested in as they would have been normally. So, that’s going to happen, and basically the project area is 1st and 2nd Avenue, and then 2nd Street down to 1st Street which is Wide Street. And that Wide Street is going to be partially reconstructed, to be completed hopefully next year as a part of the old Wright County Government Center redevelopment project.”

Access to businesses affected by the construction will be maintained. Motorists are advised to watch the signage in the downtown area for alternate parking areas.
Residents and interested persons may follow the progress of the work through maps via the city’s website.
