MN Biofuels Official Says Biofuels and Electric Vehicles can Co-Exist

The director of the Minnesota Biofuels Association suggests the notion that biofuels are competing with electric vehicles has been exaggerated.

Brian Werner says despite state and national efforts to electrify the transportation sector, liquid fuels will still be necessary for decades to come. Werner says “…if the goal is to immediately de-carbonize our transportation fuel sector, then all options to reduce emissions should be on the table.”

Werner says studies have shown ethanol reduces greenhouse gas emissions by nearly 50 percent compared to gasoline, which is why the renewable fuels industry has been focused on upgrading biofuel infrastructure at retail locations.
