Buffalo Community Orchestra to Host First of Two Performances of “The American Spirit” Sunday

The Buffalo Community Orchestra will be performing three iconic and moving pieces this weekend at their concert entitled “The American Spirit.”

The orchestra will be featuring Aaron Copland’s famous “Lincoln Portrait,” “Ashokan Farewell” by Jay Ungar, which was used extensively in the Ken Burns documentary series, “The Civil War,” and a multi-media experience, “Ellis Island: The Dream of America.”

The stirring music and images will be enhanced by narration by Bradley Greenwald and Mo Perry.

The American Spirit” will be performed Sunday at 4 PM at the Buffalo High School Performing Arts Center. A Conductor’s Chat with BCO Conductor Hisham Bravo Groover will preview the music beginning at 3 PM.

Next week, “The American Spirit” will be performed Sunday, May 5th at the St. Michael-Albertville High School Auditorium. The Conductor’s Chat begins at 3 PM, with the performance at 4 PM. Tickets for the St. Michael performance available online, and at the door.
