Energy Assistance Program Front and Center During First Prolonged Cold Snap

The first prolonged cold snap this winter means a struggle for some Minnesotans in keeping up with utility bills.

Michael Schmitz with the Minnesota Department of Commerce reminds anyone facing difficulties with heating bills to consider applying for assistance through the state’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP...”It’s not too late to apply. Our application deadline is May 31st, lots of time for folks to apply. But we do encourage folks to apply because the sooner we get those applications the sooner our local service providers can process them.”

For more information contact your local utility provider or the state Department of Commerce. You may also find out more by contacting Wright County Community Action in Maple Lake at (320) 963-6500.
