The head of the Minnesota Farm Bureau is hopeful that China will follow through on its commitment to buy more U-S products for three years.
Farm Bureau President Dan Glessing of Waverly says he has faith in the latest deal…
“So, it’s 17 billion dollars’ worth of agricultural products. On the face, that’s a big number and it is. And there was some concern like will this be able to be followed through on. But when you go through the list, this is real and it’s doable number.”
Glessing says whether they admit it or not, China’s leaders know that they need U-S farm products…
“You know China will never say this, but they need those products to feed their population. They like to pretend that they don’t just from a negotiation standpoint, they are very good negotiators. But at the end of the day, they do need these products.”
Glessing says the new agreement was a bit of positive news coming out of the president’s recent trip to Beijing.
