Minnesota Farm Bureau President and Waverly farmer, Dan Glessing is in Washington D-C this week for National Farm Bureau board meetings, and for talks on various farm topics with lawmakers from Minnesota, and others on farm-related committees.

Glessing is representing the Minnesota Farm Bureau in discussions reminding members of the U-S House and Senate on various priorities of the ag community…
“So we’re going to have conversations about making sure that gets done. We’ve been without that side of the Farm Bill for about 8 years now. That, along with making sure that they know the year-round E15 is an important avenue for farmers, amongst other topics.”
Glessing says a very important step includes the Farm Bill mark-ups on policy provisions which are expected to be worked on this week…
“Obviously when you look at the House version, it’s very similar to what was passed through the committee last time, and there was some bi-partisanship on that. Once we get whatever passes the House over to the Senate, it will be interesting to see. Obviously it has to be bi-partisan over there, so there has to be some working together so that agriculture can put this behind and move forward.”

Glessing was also recently in the nation’s capitol as a guest of Minnesota’s congressional delegation at the State of the Union address.
