More auto break-ins and thefts have been reported this week in Wright County.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two “smash and grab” type car break-ins that occurred early Wednesday morning in the parking lot at the Fitness Evolution health club in Monticello.
Officials say the break-ins were reported before 6 AM, and while few details have yet been released, witnesses tell KRWC Radio News that at least one of the two break-ins resulted in the theft of items from the vehicle. No injuries were reported.
The latest auto break-ins are similar in nature to a recent rash of vehicle vandalism incidents at several area church parking lots in Buffalo and Monticello, though it’s unclear if the events are related. Authorities say that no suspects have been identified.
Law enforcement officials remind everyone to remove valuables from your vehicle, or secure them in a locked area of the car whenever possible. Motorists should always lock their car and use any auto alarm features available.
