The first work of what will be a summer-long reconstruction project on a major highway in Wright County got underway on Monday.
Crews wasted no time in beginning some of the preliminary work on infrastructure along Highway 25 in Buffalo. Heavy equipment and numerous workers were on the site in the vicinity of Buffalo Hospital and the Buffalo Covenant Church. This week, the work will be concentrated on the north side of Buffalo, but next week, MnDOT says the main work, and detours will begin.

Highway 25 is slated for a complete overhaul from Catlin Street near the Buffalo Hospital in Buffalo to Kjellberg Court on the south side of Monticello.
Throughout the summer and into the early fall, crews will reconstruct the road surface, and replace or repair underground pipes, along with improving ditch drainage.
Roundabouts will also be added at Highway 25 and Wright County Road 37, at Catlin Street in Buffalo, and at Highway 25 and County Road 113.
MnDOT says that except for an occasional, brief full closure, those who live, work, or visit areas in the closed work zone along Highway 25 will still have access during construction.
Drivers are urged to slow down, stay alert, and follow posted detours.
