Rockford High School Evacuated Tuesday Due to Bomb Threat, Scene Later Cleared Without Incident

Numerous law enforcement agencies were on site at the Rockford High School late Tuesday morning responding to a phoned-in bomb threat at that school.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office reports that around 11:20 AM, the school received the call threatening a bomb on site. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer at the school alerted law enforcement immediately and evacuation efforts began.

Soon, more officers from the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Corcoran and Medina Police, the State Patrol and the DNR were on the scene.

All students and staff were safely evacuated and moved to a different location as law enforcement conducted comprehensive security sweeps. Specially trained K9s were also used in the scan of the building and grounds.

Roads leading to the school were closed for a short time during the incident.

No explosives or credible threats were found, and around 12:30 PM, the scene at the school was cleared, and roads were re-opened.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office says it is actively tracking the call and working to identify the caller as the investigation continues.
