Minnesota’s unemployment rate dipped to 4.4% in May as private employers added 5,900 jobs. After losses in government employment, the state posted a net gain of more than 5 thousand jobs…
“Minnesota gained 5,400 non-farm jobs over the month on a seasonally adjusted basis. The state’s private sector gained 5,900 jobs during that period.”
Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development Deputy Commissioner Kevin McKinnon says it’s encouraging to see some progress amidst a mixed economic picture both in the state and the nation as a whole…
“U-S total non-farm employment increased by 172,000 jobs, and the U.S. private sector gained 120,000 jobs.”
Over the year, Minnesota gained 19,669 payroll jobs. The biggest job gains were in the construction and leisure and hospitality sectors.
The county-by-county unemployment rate for May should be out in the next week to ten days.
