Softball Section 2AAA.
Redwood Valley 7, Dassel-Cokato 6. The Chargers lost a close on to finish 1-2 in the sections and saw their season come to an end on Saturday.
Tuesday, May 26th.
Softball.
Section 5AA Winners bracket final.
#1 Rockford 4, #3 Annandale 0. Lilly Bury struck out 17 and tossed a one hitter as the Rockets advanced to the championship game with a win over the Cards.
#2 Southwest Christian 7, #3 Annandale 2. The Stars ended the season for the Cards with a win on Tuesday, and advanced to the championship game on Thursday vs. Rockford. The Cards went 0-2 on the day, ending their season.
5AAA Winners Bracket final.
#2 Delano 12, #1 St. Francis 1. The Tigers continued to mash the ball against the Saints and advanced to the championship game, scheduled for Thursday at Zimmerman. The Tigers are 10-1 in their last eleven and have scored ten runs or more in nine of those games.

8AAAA Losers Bracket.
#4 St. Cloud 10, #6 STMA 9. St. Cloud held off the Knights at Monticello on Tuesday, ending the Knights season.
#3 Monticello 3, #5 Moorhead 1. Maggie Benton pitched a complete game, while Addisyn Hoff and Paige Flanigan contributed big RBIs in the 5th inning for the Magic.
#4 St. Cloud 19, #3 Monticello 6. A nine run sixth was the difference as the Crush eliminated the Magic on Tuesday, after Monti stayed alive earlier in the day with a win over Moorhead.
Baseball.
Section 6AAAA Quarterfinals.
#5 Buffalo 5, #4 Hopkins 0. Bison ace Aiden Marconett picked up the shutout win as the Bison advanced to the semifinals with a win over the Royals.

#6 Dassel-Cokato 9, #3 Litchfield 3. The Chargers bats came alive as they upset their rivals from Litchfield on the road on Tuesday afternoon.
Section 6AAA Quarterfinals.
#3 Delano 9, #6 Cooper 0. The Tigers rolled at home in their section opener against the Hawks.

Section 5AAA Quarterfinals.
#3 Becker 2, #6 Annandale 1. Zach O’ Konek drove in the only Cards run, as the Bulldogs scored a run in the bottom of the fifth and held on for the win. Luke Lindquist struck out 11 in six innings for Annandale.

Section 8AAAA Quarterfinals.
#1 STMA 13, #8 Brainerd 5. The Knights crushed the Warriors in the first round at home.
#2 Monticello 2, #7 St. Cloud 1. In a defensive battle, it was a Conner Schlangen making the play of the game as he threw out a baserunner at second base in the seventh inning, preserving the Magic win.
Boys Lacrosse.
8A Quarterfinals.
#6 Monticello 21, #6 Becker 1. The Magic jumped out to an 11-0 halftime lead and cruised from there.
Girls Golf Sections.
Alayna Opatz from Monticello shot a 72, good for second place on the first day of Sections, and all of the Magic golfers advanced to the second day.
Boys Track and Field 6AAA Sections.
Cooper Schultz from Buffalo qualified for state by finishing second in the shot put, with a toss of 48-10.25.
Trap Shooting Sections.
The Wright County Area advanced three shooters to state. Representing Wright County at state will be Hunter Fitch (Rockford), Hans Pederson (Buffalo), and Alaksander Obradovic from Annandale.
Wed, May 27th.
Baseball.
Winner Bracket Semifinals.
#5 Buffalo 13, #1 Wayzata 11. The Bison jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but after a three-run home run by Kiernan Letherman in the third the Trojans led 6-3. Wayzata then added foUr more runs, while the Bison plated one, and it was 10-4 Trojans going into the sixth, but it was all Buffalo after that. The Bison scored eight runs in the 6th, and then Tyson Moore hit his 8th home run of the year in the top of the seventh, and the Bison hung on for the 13-11 win and no advances to the Winners bracket final on Saturday.

Section 2A Quarterfinals.
#5 Delano 14, #4 Chanhassen 11. The Tigers rallied from a 10-6 deficit after three to storm back and defeat the Storm on the road on Wednesday to advance to the Section semifinals.
Boys Lacrosse.
Section 2A Quarterfinals.
#3 Buffalo 8, #6 Chaska 5. The Hawks scored the first two goals of the game, but the Bison dominated after that and advanced to the section finals with a home win over Chaska. Thomas Munger had a hat trick for the Bison.

#2 Chanhassen 8, #7 Delano 2.
Girls Golf.
The Monticello Magic finished second at Sections but did advance Alayna Opatz to state. Opatz shot a one under 36 on Wednesday.

Monticello advanced five of six golfers to the second day of their sections on Wednesday. Jack Sager shot a team low 76 for the Magic.
Thursday, May 28th.
Girls Softball.
Section 5AA Finals.
#1 Rockford 7, #2 Southwest Christian 1. The Rockets went 4-0 in sections and advanced to the state tournament at home against the Stars on Thursday. Rockets starting pitcher, Lily Bury allowed only two runs total in four games.

Lily Bury, above, who won the Athena Award at Rockford this year, also has led them into the state tournament in softball.
Section 5AAA Finals.
#1 St. Francis sweeps #2 Delano, 5-4, 2-1. Delano just needed to win one time to advance to state in softball, but instead lost two heartbreaking games in one day, ending their season, while the #1 seeded Saints advanced to state.
Girls Lacrosse.
Section 8A Quarterfinals.
#1 Buffalo 22, #8 Big Lake 3. After a quick goal by the Huskies, the Bison’s Calista Weiche scored three goals in the next three minutes. Overall, Buffalo scored 11 goals in the first quarter and cruised from there. Weiche, Jasmine Jorgenson, and Adellita Nelson each netted four goals on the day for Buffalo.

#3 STMA 18, #6 Moorhead 2. The Knights jumped out to big lead over the Spuds and didn’t let up in their quarterfinal win on Thursday.

#6 Dassel-Cokato 8, #7 Holy Family 6. The Chargers Cinderella run continued on Thursday with a home win over the Fire. DC has now advanced to the winners bracket final, set for Saturday.
6AAA. Winners Bracket Semifinals.
#3 Delano 6, #2 Benilde St. Margeret’s 1. The Tigers took another step closer to advancing again to state with a win on the road over BSM on Thursday, advancing the Tigers into the winners bracket final.

Section 5AAA. Loser Bracket.
#6 Annandale 6, #7 Fridley 2. The Cards kept their season alive with a home win over the Tigers. Carter Ramsey struck out ten batters over six innings to pick up the win on the mound for Annandale. Ramsey also went 2-3 at the plate with an RBI. Austin Politte had two hits and homered for the Cards, while Luke Lindquist also went 3-4 at the plate for Annandale.
Section 8AAAA Winners Bracket semifinals.
#4 Moorhead 6, #1 STMA 3. Right now, the Spuds have a spell on the Knights in baseball. Last year Moorhead won two games in a row over the Knights to reach state, and now this season as a five seed, the Spuds did it again. The good news for the Knights is they drop to the loser’s bracket, but their season isn’t over.
#2 Monticello 6, #3 Elk River 2. Cale Holthaus went 3-4 with two RBIs for Monti, while Gavin Gardner struck out ten batters in six plus innings, as the Magic advanced to the winners bracket final.
Boys Golf.
Section Finals AA.
The Buffalo Bison finished 7th at the 8AA sections on Thursday, while Monticello was eighth. Brady McGriff finished 3rd overall with a score of 72, while Buffalo’s Russell Ylitalo advanced to state for the second straight year with a total of 141 over two days.
Track and field.
Monticello’s Gus Staryszak secured his spot in state on day one by winning the shot put.

Section 6AAA.
Rose Lamberts set a school record for Buffalo in the 300 with a time of 42.09, good for first place and a spot in state.
Courtney Kotish from Buffalo, won the pole vault in a tiebreaker and advanced to state.
Tristan Lenton from Buffalo finished 2nd in the 1600, with a time of 4:17.45, advancing him to state on his home track on Thursday.
