The medallion for 2023 was found Saturday just after 7 AM inside a hollowed-out book inside the Little Free Library on the sidewalk outside BJ’s Deli and Freedom Mobility in downtown Buffalo.

Below are all the clues in the hunt, and what the clues meant.
Clue 1: Buffalo Days is here…and it’s time to hunt for the Medallion! For 2023…I have the highest dollar value ever – pound for pound. Your hint for today to get started is this…..You won’t ever find me unless you’re within the city limits, and you’re standing on public ground. (Generic – public ground)
Clue 2: The Medallion Hunt for 2023 is on! If you haven’t found me yet….don’t frown. Over the years I’ve been known to hide both high and low. This year….depending on your height of course….you might need to bend down. (The Free Little Library is below eye level for most adults.)
Clue 3: Day 3 of the Medallion Hunt. So how’s the searching been?
Kind of rough-a-lo? Here’s another hint for you….I’m in a place that within a couple of blocks, you could probably count at least two dozen Buffalo. (Buffalo statues, and numerous signage with “Buffalo” all throughout the downtown.)
Clue 4: The 4th day of Buffalo Days Medallion hunting. There are lots of people passing by as I stay quietly hidden. If it rains…I won’t fret. My neighbors and I won’t get wet. (Free Little Library is enclosed with a roof to protect the books inside.)
Clue 5: It’s the last day of the Medallion Hunt….and if you’re hearing this, it means that no one has found me even after 4 days of clues…so….here’s another. First, if you’re not downtown, you better get here. And remember, you can’t judge a book by its cover. (Points out books, and leads searchers to downtown.)
