Minnesotans Asked to Consider Becoming an Organ Donor During National Donate Month

The University of Minnesota is promoting National Donate Month by asking Minnesotans to sign up to be organ, tissue, and eye donors.

Dr. Elizabeth Aby at the U of M, says donations can help in over 80 ways…“Heart valves can save the lives of infants born with heart defects, donation of ligaments can help repair a torn ACL, and then parts of the eyes that can be donated are the corneas, the sclera, and the eye in general.”

Aby says more than 100,000 people in the U-S are currently waiting for an organ donor, with over 3,000 of them waiting in Minnesota.
