Much of MN Digs Out of Second Round of Spring Snow

Wright County and most of Minnesota is digging out from a second round of spring snow.

Snow began in our area late Sunday morning and continued throughout the day and evening, and much of the overnight into early Monday.

Snow accumulation totals are somewhat difficult to pinpoint as high moisture content caused the snow to crush down as it fell. Most locations in our area are reporting between 8 and 10 inches of extremely heavy, wet snow.

Only a few school districts were affected by the Sunday snowfall as many schools in our area were already closed today due to spring break. Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose schools were scheduled to be open today, but canceled classes due to the spring snowstorm. Other schools that are closed today are St. Francis Xavier and Wright Technical Center in Buffalo. Big Lake and Kimball schools are also closed today.

Plowing crews will continue to work hard today clearing roads, streets, parking lots and driveways and sidewalks. If you’re tackling the snow removal yourself today, health and safety officials advise taking extreme care, and pace yourself. Moving heavy, wet snow is exhausting and can cause extreme exertion.
