Spring Snowstorms Push Start of County Highway 35 Project West of St. Michael to April 3rd

Recent spring snows have delayed the original start date on a major construction project on County Highway 35 in the St. Michael area.

The Wright County Highway Department says the project will now get underway on Wednesday, April 3rd.

The work will take place in several stages, with a road closure between 30th Street Northeast and the County Highway 35 split at Central Avenue West and St. Michael Parkway.

Residents and motorists who frequently travel in the area are advised that a detour will be posted using 30th Street Northeast and County Highway 19 with a temporary signal at the intersection of County Highway 19 and 30th Street Northeast.

While County Highway 35 will be closed in that area, the intersection and private driveway access will be maintained.

County Highway 35 will be open to traffic from 30th Street Northeast to the west on Jamison Avenue Northeast throughout the duration of the project, but delays should be expected, and drivers should use caution when traveling through the work zone. Traffic will be shifted to the areas of widened pavement depending on the construction stage.

The project is expected to be completed by late fall of this year. Questions on the project, or requests for more information should be directed to Wright County Assistant Engineer Sara Buermann, at; [email protected].
