38 Wright County Athletes to Watch in Spring Sports

The Spring sports season is here! Below is a look at 38 players from the Wright County Area that could make a big impact for their teams and sections for the Spring sports season. Boys Track and Field:

Brian Schloeder, Rockford, Sr. Schloeder became the first pole vaulter in state history to go over 16 feet last year, and won state in the pole vault. Schloeder also reached state in the 100 meter dash.

Max Salas, Jr, STMA: Went to state in both the 1600, and 3200 last spring.

Muhiz Bada, Sr., STMA: Went to state in both the 200 meter dash and long jump last season.

Cam Jones, Howard Lake WW: The Lakers return one of the best track and field teams in the state for 1A, and Cam Jones leads the way, and the Lakers also have Monte Gilman back, who excels in sprints.

Girls Track and Field:

Emelia Skistad, Sr, Monticello: Skistad took first in the 200 and second in the 100 meter dash last year at state.

Hope Guertin, Sr., Monticello: Went to state in 100, and 300 meter hurdles.

Gabriella Keefer, Jr., STMA: Keefer advanced to state in four events last year at state, competing in the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, Long Jump and Triple Jump.

Boys Tennis:

Ryan Schyma, Sr. Monticello: Schyma advanced to the AA state tournament in singles last season.

Ryan Schyma, above, looks to go back to state this spring for Monti.

Zach Bergstrom, Sr., Becker: Bergstrom went to state in AA in both doubles and singles. Bergstrom’s doubles partner is Eli Scheidman.

Girls Golf:

Abigail Labrador, 8th, STMA: Labrador’s future is so bright! She already has competed in the state tournament and should contend for a state championship for the next five years at STMA.

Abigail Labrador, above, is one of the top up and coming golfers in the state.

Brynn Spanier, So., Delano: Another young standout who qualified for state last year for the Tigers.

Boys Golf:

Gavin Dahle, Jr., Annandale: 

Harvey Ylitalo, Buffalo: Harvey is another talented golfer from the long line of excellent golfers in the Ylitalo family.

Boys Lacrosse:

Reme Lobitz,Sr., STMA: Lobitz was dangerous both in goals and assist combining for 54 points last year, including 30 goals.

Callan Jacobson, SR., Monticello: Jacobson scored 25 goals last year to lead the Magic in scoring.

Monti returns a very solid team this year in Boys Lacrosse.

Michael Jones, Jr., Monticello: Jones combined with Jacobson for 45 goals and 30 assist last season.

Joe McCabe, Delano: McCabe netted 23 goals for the Tigers last season.

William Webber, Buffalo: The Bison lost a lot from last season, but Webber should provide a lot of the scoring this season for Buffalo after scoring 13 goals last season.

Girls Lacrosse:

Piper Peterson, Fr., STMA: Only an 8th grader last season, Peterson scored 40 goals for the Knights and is a force to be reckoned with.

Piper Peterson, above, is one of the top returning scorers in the state coming back this spring.

Kat Rice, Jr., STMA: Rice is the top goalie in the Wright County Area, going 10-5 last season with a save % of 53.

Piper Perron, Sr., Monticello: Another Piper had a big season last year and is set for another one! Perron scored 36 goals last season for Monti.

Addison Kiphuth, Jr., Monticello: Kiphuth scored 33 goals and had 15 assist last season for the Magic.

Haddie Toussaint, Jr., Buffalo: Hattie lead a tough Bison team with 28 goals and 11 assist last spring.

Baseball:

Will Haas, Sr. Rockford: Haas had a great year and summer, and will pitch on scholarship for the Tennessee Volunteers from the powerful SEC next season.

Will Haas, above, will pitch for the Tennessee Volunteers next season, but would first like to lead Rockford to the state tournament this spring.

Aiden Smith, Sr., Rockford: Smith broke out last season as both a pitcher and hitter. Smith hit .333 with 3 HR and 17 RBI’s at the plate, and went 4-2 with a 3.50 ERA on the mound.

Patrick Binnebose, Jr., Rockford: Hit .350 with 13 RBI’s for an outstanding Rockford team last spring.

Cael Olson, Sr., Delano: Olson hit .429 last spring and is also the Tigers ace pitcher.

Brock Holthaus, Jr., Monticello: Brock hit .395 with 26 RBI’s as a sophomore last season and helped lead the Magic to the state tournament.

Brock Holthaus, above, hopes to lead the Magic back to state. In the current preseason poll, the Magic are ranked #4 in the state in AA.

Tyson Visness, Sr., Monticello: Pitches and plays outfield, while hitting .342 at the plate and with his blazing speed recorded four triples last spring.

Caden King, Sr., Monticello: King hit .343 last season with 23 RBI’s and also was the leader of the team behind the plate for the Magic.

Tyson Moore, Fr., Buffalo: Moore who didn’t play last year for Buffalo is back and is ranked as the #1 player in the state of Minnesota and one of the Top 100 players in the country. Is not only a great hitter, but an outstanding catcher. Started for the Bison as a 7th grader.

Girls Softball:

Kendra Behrens, Jr. STMA: Kendra wasn’t sure if she would make varsity last season, she did and yeah, she did ok! Behrens hit .377, smashed six home runs, and went 10-5 in the circle and helped lead the Knights to the state tournament.

Taylor Tschida, Sr., STMA: Tschida is a power hitting first baseman, who hit over .400 last season with three home runs and 27 RBI’s.

Cam Dubel, Jr., STMA: Dubel can play anywhere on the field, and hit .425 last season with three home runs and 17 RBI’s.

Hannah Story, Sr., Monticello: Lead the Magic with a .416 avg, hit two home runs and drove in 16 last year.

Emerson Helget, Sr., Annandale: Helget is the ace for the Cards with an impressive 2.69 ERA last spring.

Kaelyn Wittwer, So., Delano: Wittwer hit .316 last season with 14 RBI’s for the state bound Tigers.

Grace Danielson, Sr., Delano: Danielson hit .367 last year for Delano and also played an outstanding CF for the Tigers.
